Social networking boom

There has been a boom in the number of sites offering social networking services. There already are too many sites on the social networking services front and new sites are coming up every day. Apart from social networking services, these sites also offer other services such as video sharing, messaging, photo sharing etc. these sites are often the main cause of many friends meeting after a long time. These sites thrive on the concept of tree network. A few people who are the first ones to register invite their friends. These friends in turn invite their friends who in turn invite others to join in the site. This leads to a number of people joining the sites due to referrals. This has also caught the attention of the social networking services sites webmasters. They now provide incentives to existing users to refer more users. The existing users are offered free gifts like IPods, DVD players etc. to lure them into referring other users. These users in turn are lured by the offers and refer other users. This leads to a chain of referrals and the social networking services site is on its way to making decent profits.

The boom of the internet saw the startup of many different sites. The first ones to come up were the business sites. Business houses considered the need for an online existence, and also had the funds to create their web space. They thus were the front runners to making websites. Then came the sites containing information about almost anything on the earth. These sites were often called online encyclopedias. These encyclopedia were often so useful, people used to refer these almost all the time even for small matters. This had more to do with the ease with which information could be retrieved on these sites than with anything else. These sites were also the predecessors to the social networking services sites. These social networking services sites were a result of people seeking other people online. People seek others online, and realized that this was the easiest and the simplest way of seeking others. Thus social networking services sites took birth. These sites since then have grown from strength to strength. These sites have actively participated in what was called the dot com boom and created their own space which has come to be known as the social networking boom. The social networking boom is here to stay and is only getting bigger by the hour.
