As with every successful product or service on the internet or elsewhere, there will always be people who will capitalize on the success by writing how-to-do-it materials. There will also be people who will use every means, legal or illegal to gain funds from unwary victims associated with the successful business. That is true of E-Bay, the wildly successful internet business that has become a household world in most of the free world and elsewhere as well. In researching E-Bay courses and scams, one quickly determines that very good courses exist, but there are courses so bad or outdated that they are worthless. In addition, there are bad guy types who are quite simply out to scam the person who doesn't pay attention to details.

E-Bay courses and scams abound, but with prudence, you can avoid getting scammed and also should you elect to purchase E-Bay educational materials, you can choose those which give you the best value for your money.

When choosing E-Bay courses, it helps to look for certain things. First is the date of publication. Anything written before 2004 probably doesn't represent the latest information about techniques and regulations on E-Bay. So, look for a publication date after 2004, or at least a revision of materials later than 2004.

If you can determine who the author of the material is, you can probably gain some idea if their methods actually work. If someone wrote or ghost-wrote the materials who is actually successful in E-Bay commerce, with a range of products other than the course in question, it will probably contain helpful tips. Another thing to look for is how the author or distributor receives payment for the course. Do they accept credit cards or use PayPal. You have some limited recourse when purchasing using these methods if the material is not delivered or is not according to the description.

Some E-Bay courses deal with how to avoid E-Bay scams, and those can be very helpful. The most important thing to remember is never to use a link in an email which purports to be from E-Bay to go to your account and enter information. These are frauds and you are likely to lose much more than just money if the information is used in identity theft.

A common E-Bay scam is for the thief to set up two E-Bay accounts and make two bids on the item you're selling. One bid will be low and the other quite high-even ridiculously high. Other bidders will not participate in the auction because they would have to bid higher than the item is worth. Then, just before the bidding closes, the scamming high bidder withdraws his bid, leaving the item going at a low price to the scamming low bidder.

This action can be prevented by using a reserve price when listing your E-Bay items and by including a statement that you are not required to release your item if you suspect that fraud has occurred.

All in all, if you are cautious and wise, you can prevent unpleasant experiences with E-Bay courses and scams.
